Study in Canada

Student visa also known as a study permit is a document issued by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions in Canada for a specified period of time. Most international students will require a study permit to study in Canada.

Eligibility Requirements for applying for a Canadian Study Permit

  • You must secure a letter of acceptance from a Canadian educational institute with a valid DLI number
  • You must not have a criminal record history and obtain a police clearance certificate.
  • You must be in good health and get a medical exam (if required).
  • You must have proof of financial funds showing that you can support yourself and your family members who come with you to Canada. This must also include transportation expenses and tuition fees.
  • You must be able to prove an officer that you will leave the country once your study permit expires.

After arrival in Canada

You must maintain your study permit once you arrive in Canada. You may need to change or re-new your study permit during the course of studies in Canada.

Depending on your program, you may be eligible to work for a fixed number of hours while studying.

After graduation, you may be eligible to receive post graduation work permit(PGWP) to facilitate your stay in Canada and apply for Permanent Residency.
