Express Entry

Express entry is the fastest and most popular pathway for newcomers seeking a new life in Canada.

Express entry is an online immigration system that allows applications from qualified workers seeking to become Canadian permanent residents. Eligible applicants are allowed to submit a profile to the Canadian Government. Candidates with the highest rankings are invited to apply for permanent residence

Candidates can apply as :

  • Canadian Experience Class– Skilled workers having Canadian experience who wish to apply for PR can do so under this program.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program- This program is for candidates who are selected to immigrate to Canada because of their work experience and skills.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program - Candidates with professional trade qualifications can apply under this program
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)- Under this program, Canadian Provinces and territories nominate candidates aspiring to migrate and settle in a particular province like British Columbia, Alberta, or Ontario.

Procedure for Express Entry PR

Procedure for Express Entry PR starts by checking the candidates overall profile which consists of:-

  • Education Level
  • Language Abilities- English or French
  • Work Experience and skills
  • Age
  • If the candidate has a job offer in Canada
  • Spouse’s education, language abilities and work experience
  • Additional points are awarded if the candidate has completed a college or university program in Canada or is having a provincial nomination.

Once the profile is submitted in the pool, each candidate is ranked through a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), based on the above parameters. Candidates with the highest ranking are sent an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency. All the Express entry candidates who are not issued an ITA are eligible to stay in the pool for 12 months, post which they are required to make a new profile and re-enter the pool.

Once you are issued an ITA, you are given a 60 day window period to complete your PR application. Once the complete application is received by the immigration authorities, the permanent visa should be processed in the processing time given by IRCC.
